Annotated Bibliography of
Economic and Community Development Research
in Georgia Colleges and Universities

A Project of the Intellectual Capital Partnership Program (ICAPP) of the
Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia
January 1998

Introduction

The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and its constituent colleges and universities have adopted a policy commitment to assist the Georgia state government in its strategic planning and implementation efforts in the area of economic and community development. A first step in fulfilling this policy commitment is to inventory the previous and current research of economic and community development issues that the institutes, programs, departments, and individual faculty and staff within Georgia's institutions of higher education have completed. Under an agreement with the Board of Regents, the Fiscal Research Program within the School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University conducted mail surveys to identify this research. The resulting inventory provides the first annotated bibliography and consolidated repository of research on these policy issues authored within Georgia's institutions. This information is being made available to policy makers and researchers for planning and to identify further research opportunities.

Research Product

This Annotated Bibliography of Georgia Community and Economic Development Research reflects work authored within the last ten years by faculty and staff of Georgia's colleges and universities. It consists of works identified by responses to two mail surveys sent in July and August 1997. Both public and private institutions of higher education were included in the survey.

Included with the Annotated Bibliography are (1) an Addendum of unannotated research; (2) a Topical Index; and (3) an Institutional Index. In addition to these features, there is a physical repository of research documents submitted by the authors as requested in the survey. Al1 documents in the physical repository are identified in the Annotated Bibliography with a special symbol ( ).
